Join artisan, Queensland’s leading craft and design organisation, with their regional arts advisor, Shannon Garson and Tang Oudomvilay (Creative Enterprise Manager) for a welcoming and supportive workshop exploring the art of giving and receiving constructive critique. This session is designed for makers, artists and designers at all stages of their practice, this session provides practical tools for engaging in thoughtful, respectful conversations about work in progress.
Constructive critique is an essential part of practice development. It helps creatives move beyond working in isolation, uncover blind spots, clarify ideas and intentions, and gain fresh perspectives from others. Learning to both offer and receive feedback with openness and confidence can strengthen critical thinking, refines communication skills, and encourages creative growth.
Through guided discussion and facilitated group critique, participants will explore strategies for giving clear, generous, and useful feedback while developing the confidence to receive critique as a valuable part of their creative process.
Together, the group will foster a supportive environment where curiosity, reflection, and dialogue become tools for deepening practice.
Whether you are seeking feedback on current work or looking to build confidence in discussing the work of others, this workshop offers practical skills that can enrich your studio practice and strengthen your connection to a creative community.
Suitable for makers, artist and designers of all experience levels. Participants are encouraged to bring a current artwork or documentation of work in progress for discussion.
