Arty Party people! Join us for an inspired celebration of all the Things YOU Want To Say.
Things I want to say exhibition has brought together artists from across the country whose practices negotiate identity in contemporary Australia. Focusing on artists with a connection to Queensland, the exhibition encourages conversation around navigating one’s sense of self within the pressures of broader society.
Individual works offer hope, reassurance and affirmation, transcending barriers and externally prescribed limitations. Together they share stories as a young person growing up in regional QLD, a first generation Australian living within a diasporic community or as a First Nations Australian using sign language to explore their connection to Country and community.
Things I want to say has been accompanied by a youth engagement program developed by youth engagement specialist Jo Higgins and led by local artist Zenus Moonbeam. Through a series of creative workshops young people of the Somerset region have experimented with costume, music, video and performance. The program culminates in this event -an art party for young people.
So join us for artist-led workshops, superhero portraits, bunker poetry, pizza and more.
Everyone is welcome.
